The 5 best books out of the SCHOLASTIC WAREHOUSE SALE
If you don’t know, now you know: EXACTLY twice a year the Scholastic Warehouse that supplies books to your school fairs opens their doors and sells A-MAZ-ING books at ridiculous discounts!
I am telling you right now, this is the book sale to end book sales. I am talking brand new, big name authors for rows at prices that are more than 50% off! This is the place to be for your classroom library, Christmas lists, gifts for your class, small group sets- you name it, they have it.
Use this link to find the warehouse closest to you and make sure to sign up for a FAST PASS that gets you 25$ off every $100 you spend. Here are my picks for the best five from the warehouse aisles. (But you know I bought a whole box of new books! Holiday Break reading- here I come!)

Book of the Year: PAX By Sara Pennypacker- Okay, I’ll admit it. I am picking a book I haven’t read yet but that’s what the Scholastic Warehouse Sale is for- getting something you know you need but haven’t read. I’m confident here because everyone I have talked to has read this book and even the volunteer at the sale who checked it out stopped scanning to tell me it is great. Grab it (at 50% off) and take the plunge, get one for your 5th grade niece, too. Maybe read it together.
“An age old problem solved” pick: 11 Experiments that Failed- Finally, someone recognized that kids are TERRIBLE at creating science projects. If one more third grader puts rags on his dog’s feet to pick up hair, I am going to lose-my-mind! This book challenges experiments, re-enforces the importance of failing (YES!!!) and is a lot of fun! Pick it up, read it to them and inspire more than dog mopping this year!
The “You’ll never get it this cheap pick”: The Day the Crayons Came Home- Yes, we all know it is true, Oliver Jeffers is a genius. Unfortunately, his preference for hard cover means his genius comes at a price! Not at the warehouse sale- here your favorite sassy crayons are 50% off and the genius is worth full price. Get a full set for your bratty cousin or keep them in your classroom for endless joy!
The Book for anyone: Polar Bear Night- Monochromatic is all the rage! This beautiful book is easy to read and filled with subtle but beautiful vocabulary. Travel to an Arctic night with a baby polar and enjoy the peace of a well-written board book. Perfect for pre-K-2nd and a lifetime after that.
The “Teach more than Christmas in December” book: Beautiful Yetta- The Scholastic Warehouse Sale is the BEST place for Holiday books. There are books for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas and everything in between. I loved this book about a chicken that teaches children Yiddish as they read it. It’s a fun spin on learning about Hanukkah and has the actual letters and transliteration for pronunciation.
Alright team, that’s it- 5 books from the sale of the year! Let’s be clear: I filled an entire box (41 books) for just over $100. Let’s see how you do- hit the sale, fill your library and try to not spend forever reading a Mo Willems book in the middle of the stacks. Happy Holidays ya’ll- READ ON!
